Upcoming Deadline to Report 2025 MIPS Improvement Activities
The deadline to begin your 90-day Improvement Activities (IA) performance period for 2025 MIPS is rapidly approaching. If you haven’t started your IA performance period yet, you must do so by October 3, 2025.

MIPS IA Category Requirements
To receive full credit for the IA category, you must attest “yes” to having completed 2 IAs from the IA inventory unless you qualify for double credit.
Some Clinicians and Practices Qualify for Double IA Credit
If you qualify for double IA credit, you are only required to complete 1 IA. Clinicians and practices reporting via the MVP or with certain special statuses – small practice, rural, non-patient facing, or health professional shortage area (HPSA) special statuses – only need to attest “yes” to 1 IA.
IA Suspensions in 2025
As a reminder, CMS suspended the following IAs for the 2025 performance year:
- AHE_5: MIPS Eligible Clinician Leadership in Clinical Trials or CBPR
- AHE_8: Create and Implement an Anti-Racism Plan
- AHE_9: Implement Food Insecurity and Nutrition Risk Identification and Treatment Protocols
- AHE_11: Create and Implement a Plan to Improve Care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Patients
- AHE_12: Practice Improvements that Engage Community Resources to Address Drivers of Health
- ERP_3: COVID-19 Clinical Data Reporting with or without Clinical Trial
- PM_6: Use of Toolsets or Other Resources to Close Health and Health Care Inequities Across Communities (Use of toolset or other resources to close healthcare disparities across communities)
- PM_26: Vaccine Achievement for Practice Staff: COVID-19, Influenza, and Hepatitis B
If you completed or started working on these IAs before the suspension was announced on May 6, 2025, you can still report them and receive credit; otherwise, CMS states that you should select other IAs to report.
